Tabebuia rosea, also called Pink Poui and Rosy Trumpet tree is a colorful flower which blooms in December. Its vibrant pink color is seen all over Bangalore, especially in Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. These pink trumpet flowers are in splendor anytime between December-March in Bangalore. Claiming its origin from America, Pink Poui happens to be the National Tree of El Salvador. Known for its phenomenal growth, this tree can grow up to 25-30 meters in five years’ time.

These enchanting flowers greet all morning walkers at the entrance and alongside the walk pathway at Lalbagh. This alluring flora attracts fauna and humans alike. While honey bees and sunbirds draw their nectar, many a shutterbug draw the nectarine treat for their eyes and soul, preserving them for posterity. It’s a treat to watch the trees in a row. Pink Poui resembles the Cherry Blossom trees in Japan and Washington.
